LuxeDay Baths · Delaware County

Bathroom remodeling in Delaware County, PA.

The oldest bathrooms we work on. What is behind the wall decides whether this is a one-day install or a three-week renovation, and we find out before quoting rather than after.

What is behind the wall in Delaware County

Cast-iron waste stacks

Twins and rows built before about 1950 almost all have cast-iron waste stacks. They last a long time but corrode from the inside, and a stack that looks fine can be paper-thin at the hub. If we open a wall and find one at the end of its life, replacing it is the right call and we say so with a price rather than coating over the problem. It is the single most common reason a Delaware County bathroom turns from a two-day job into a two-week one.

Five-foot alcoves, and what fits in them

The standard tub alcove in this housing stock is five feet, which is good news: it is exactly what a tub-to-shower conversion is designed for. Base, walls and glass drop straight in, plumbing stays where it is, and the job is genuinely one to two days. Most of our one-day work in the county is this exact swap.

Subfloor under the old tub

A sixty-year-old tub that has leaked slowly at the drain leaves rot in the subfloor that nobody sees until the tub comes out. We check what we can before quoting and price the repair as its own line, so you are not finding out about it on day one with the floor open.

Galvanised supply on the older streets

Some Havertown and Drexel Hill houses still have galvanised supply lines. They restrict flow and they crumble when disturbed. If yours has them, replacing the run in the bathroom is worth doing while the wall is open and costs far less than doing it later.

One day or three weeks — which one you need

A one-day install works when the shower goes where the tub was and the plumbing stays put. The base, wall panels and glass fit a standard alcove, and you have a working bathroom the next day.

It does not work when the layout changes, the drain moves, a wall comes out, or what is behind the wall turns out to need replacing. That is a conventional renovation and it takes two to four weeks.

We tell you which on the visit. Selling the fast one and discovering the slow one on day three helps nobody. More on how the install works ›

Frequently asked questions

Can you do a one-day install in an old house?

Often, yes. What matters is whether the plumbing moves and what condition the waste stack is in, not the age of the house. A tub-to-shower swap in a standard five-foot alcove is one to two days even in a 1928 twin.

What if you find a bad waste stack?

We stop and tell you, with a price for replacing it. It is not a change order we slip in — the terms give you the right to see the cost in writing and decide. Coating over a failing cast-iron stack would be the cheaper thing to do and the wrong one.

Do you work in Media and Springfield?

Yes, along with Havertown, Newtown Square, Drexel Hill, Broomall, Ridley and the rest of the county.

How much does a bathroom cost here?

A tub-to-shower conversion where plumbing stays put is the lower end. A full renovation with the layout moving, a new stack and a rotted subfloor is a different job entirely. We quote after seeing it, in writing, with the line items visible.

Do we need a permit?

Moving plumbing or altering structure usually needs one, and the requirement varies by township here more than anywhere else we work. We tell you which applies to your job and price it as its own line.
