LuxeDay Baths · Lancaster County

Bathroom remodeling in Lancaster County, PA.

Older construction than most of our area, and plaster over lath behaves nothing like drywall once you open it.

What we find in Lancaster County bathrooms

Plaster over wood lath

A lot of the housing here predates drywall. Plaster over lath is stronger than it looks and far messier to open — it does not cut cleanly, and it brings down more than you intended along the wall. Where a panel system is going in, that matters less because the panels cover it. Where the wall is being rebuilt, it adds real time and shows on the quote as demolition rather than appearing halfway through.

Bathrooms added to houses that never had one

Plenty of older Lancaster County houses had a bathroom fitted decades after they were built, often in a converted bedroom or a corner of a landing. The plumbing runs in those are frequently improvised. Opening the wall tells us what we are dealing with, and we would rather look first than quote optimistically.

Farmhouse layouts and long runs

Distance between the bathroom and the stack is often much greater than in a suburban house. Long horizontal waste runs need proper fall, and where a previous owner has managed without it, the drain works badly. If we are in the floor anyway, correcting it is worth doing.

Newer builds around Lititz and Elizabethtown

The modern developments are conventional and straightforward — a standard alcove and a one to two day conversion where the plumbing stays.

One day or three weeks — which one you need

A one-day install works when the shower goes where the tub was and the plumbing stays put. The base, wall panels and glass fit a standard alcove, and you have a working bathroom the next day.

It does not work when the layout changes, the drain moves, a wall comes out, or what is behind the wall turns out to need replacing. That is a conventional renovation and it takes two to four weeks.

We tell you which on the visit. Selling the fast one and discovering the slow one on day three helps nobody. More on how the install works ›

Frequently asked questions

Do you travel to Lancaster County?

Yes. Lancaster, Lititz, Ephrata, Elizabethtown, Columbia and Manheim. It is the furthest part of our area, so on smaller jobs we may group the visit with other work nearby rather than add travel.

Is plaster a problem?

Not a problem, but it is slower and messier to remove than drywall and that shows on the quote as demolition time. Where a panel system covers the wall it matters much less.

Can you do a one-day install in an old farmhouse?

Sometimes. It depends entirely on whether the plumbing stays put and what the existing runs look like. We look before promising, because a fast install sold on an assumption becomes a slow renovation with an unhappy customer.

My drain has always been slow. Can you fix it?

Often, and it is usually fall rather than a blockage — a long horizontal run without enough drop. If the floor is open for the renovation anyway, correcting it costs far less than doing it on its own.

Do you handle permits?

Yes, where required. Requirements vary by township and we deal with the office rather than leaving it with you.
